The Secretary to the Ebonyi State Government, Mr. Fidelis Mbam has stressed the need to use public enlightenment programmes to motivate the citizens to participate in lottery activities.

Mr Mbam made this suggestion when the Abakaliki Zonal Coordinator, Mrs Priscilla Onuzulu, with some staff, paid him a courtesy visit at the Ebonyi State Cabinet Office. He recalled that the state was still at its nascent stage, adding that enlightenment programmes must be put together by the Commission to educate Ebonyians on the lottery business.

In the pursuit of this agendum, he explained his readiness to partner with the Commission by meeting with the local government council chairmen and coordinators, advising that continuous interaction with other stakeholders would enhance the success of the lottery business.

While recapping on the economic gains of lottery, the SSG stated that since Ebonyi State was new, the opportunities in lottery were endless and emphasised his readiness to encourage the Commission in her efforts to ensure that lottery was done the right way in the state.

In her reaction, the Zonal Coordinator, Mrs Priscilla Onuzulu highlighted the potentials in lottery especially in a developing economy like Nigeria that has been largely dependent on oil and recounted what Ebonyi State would gain from lottery. The gains of lottery, according to her include employment creation and revenue generation.
