09 Mar Director General NLRC Lanre Gbajabiamila Bags NDPC Special Recognition Award

In acknowledgement of his significant contributions to the growth and advancement of the gaming sector in Nigeria, the Director-General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Lanre Gbajabiamila, OON, has been bestowed with a Special Recognition Award by the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC). The ceremony took place at the Congress Hall of the prestigious Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja where the NDPC Annual Report for 2023 was also unveiled. Dr. Bosun Tijani, the Minister of the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry Engr. Farouk Yusuf Yabo who presented the award to Mr. Gbajabiamila. The Minister emphasised the NLRC’s unwavering support to the NDPC since its inception. “It is my pleasure to present this Special Recognition Award to the Director General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC). Your steadfast support and contributions to the National Data Protection Commission have not gone unnoticed. Your collaboration has been instrumental in furthering the goals of both Commissions” he stated.

Expressing his gratitude, Gbajabiamila attributed the honour to the collective efforts of NLRC staff, underscoring their significance in motivating their dedication. “This award is a testament to the hard work and dedication of the entire staff of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission. We have worked tirelessly to foster collaboration with the NDPC for mutual benefit. We extend our sincere appreciation for this recognition and wish the NDPC continued success” he expressed.

Earlier in his remarks, Gbajabiamila commended the NDPC for its initiative in organizing the Anniversary Dinner and Awards, lauding the Commission’s remarkable achievements within a short span of its existence. He commended NDPC’s commitment to recognizing excellence through sustainable events. He added that in its brief existence, the Commission has made significant strides that the NLRC is proud to be associated with.

The evening’s festivities were elevated by musical performances and the presentation of awards, culminating in the grand unveiling of the NDPC Annual Report for 2023.
