Ease Of Doing Business: NLRC, Ministry of Interior Set To Forge Partnership
The National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) and the Ministry of Interior have initiated moves aimed at facilitating the ease of doing business and streamline visa approvals for foreign investors coming into the lottery industry in Nigeria.
This was the outcome of a meeting by Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila (OON), the Director General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) and Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Honourable Minister of Interior.
Expressing the significance of the parley with the ministry, Mr. Gbajabiamila remarked, “We are delighted to be here on this courtesy visit to the Honourable Minister of Interior, Hon Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo. Our sole aim is not only to congratulate you on your appointment, but to explore avenues that would be of mutual benefit to us. We also commend your efforts in sanitizing the immigration service and simplifying most processes.”
Furthermore, he emphasized the need for collaboration with the Ministry to facilitate streamline visa approvals for foreign investors, stating, “The Commission sees the need to collaborate with the Ministry on the ease of business for the lottery industry investors, technology providers, and expatriates.”
He continued, “Therefore, sir, we crave the indulgence of the Ministry to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commission for this purpose. It will go down in history that we created an avenue for the non-oil sector to thrive in Nigeria, for an increase in the socio-economic status of the nation, and for nationwide security.”
In his response, Dr. Olabunmi Tunji-Ojo expressed his enthusiasm for the potential partnership, acknowledging the NLRC’s significant contribution to the non-oil sector’s revenue generation. He affirmed that the lottery industry in Nigeria had untapped huge potential and he was gladdened by the partnership.
“The lottery industry is one of the biggest contributors to the GDP of Nigeria, and we’re excited about the prospect of partnering with you. We are ready to collaborate with you so that investors can come into Nigeria without hitches. There’s so much we can do together in terms of background checks, business permits, quotas, etc. Your request for a joint partnership has been approved because it is commendable. Rest assured that you have our support, and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry will work out the details of the partnership,” Dr Tunji Ojo concluded.
The meeting is one of many engaged by the NLRC DG, Mr Lanre Gbajabiamila(OON) in his bid to reposition the lottery industry for improved revenue generation and growth.
