In a brief chat with the Deputy Director, General Services (GS), Mr. Okiemute Agana, the NLRC News gathered that the Management observed some level of complacency and security lapses on the part of Kings Guard. For instance, some Commission’s staff became too familiar with the Kings Guard team, a situation that resulted in avoidable compromises, security breaches, as well as lack of professionalism in the discharge of their duty.

Mr. Agana commended the Director General, Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila OON and the NLRC Management for taking the bold step and promptly replacing the Kings Guards Security Limited, adding that it was a step in the right direction as issues of security are not to be treated with kid gloves.

With the recent development, Mr. Agana further hinted that the Commission would soon implement more security protocols, as soon as approval was obtained from the Management. Such protocols, according to him would include the use of staff Identification Cards to help the new security team identify staff, as well as enforcement of visiting days as obtained in other government establishments.

The DD, General Services, further stated that staff who come to the office on weekends or on unofficial working days must inform GS through their Heads of Department or Unit for security reasons.

He also disclosed that the office has multiple level security measures in place to ensure the security of lives and property of the Commission are not compromised.

Concerning the new security changes, Mr. Agana encouraged staff to report any observations or suggestions to Management to ensure top-notch security in the Commission.
