WHEN WOMEN RISE, EVERYONE RISES: DG NLRC
The Director-General, National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Mr. Lanre Gbajabi-amila has commended the invaluable contributions, hard work and support of the all-female staff of the Commission in a bid to move the Commission to great heights.
Speaking at a meeting with female staff of the Commission at the Commission’s Headquarter Office in Abuja during the occasion of this year’s International Women’s Day celebration with the theme ” Break the Bias”, the DG charged all-female staff of the Commission to become a better version of themselves and have an all-inclusive mindset adding that it is an honour for any organization to foster inclusivity and break the bias by ensuring women’s inclusiveness in all affairs.
He urged all women not to give up the fight for women’s equality and gender priority as women deserve their rightful place to enable society and humanity fully harness their enormous potential.
He emphasized the importance of women supporting one another and not pulling each other down and that women should strive to collectively make positive gains
and play a collaborative role in forging gender parity adding that unhealthy gender rivalry, competition or discrimination will not help women.
According to the DG, it is worthy of note that the rise of a woman is a springboard to further elevate the man, ” when women rise, everyone rises” he said.
Mr. Gbajabiamila while citing the quote of Eleanor Roosevelt, ” A woman is like a tea bag, you never know how strong she is until you put her in hot water” added that women are invaluable elements of social transformation.
Mrs. Fisinmba Idasefiema, Deputy Director NLRC, responding on behalf of women appreciated the DG for pioneering the International Women’s Day celebration in the Commission, this being the first of its kind.
She pledged the women’s unflinching support to the Gbajabiamila led administration and said that the occasion calls for women to reflect and depict the virtue that not only makes them women but women of honour.
The DG in his magnanimity organized a raffle draw to mark the occasion and five female staff of the Commission emerged winners respectively carting away various gift items presented to them by the Commission’s Management.
Mr. Magnus Ekechukwu, Assistant Director, Public Affairs NLRC, while speaking at the occasion noted that the DG is truly gender-sensitive and has great respect for women which is reflective in the way he incorporated women in his administration.
He, however, advised the female staff of the Commission not to take the Women’s Day celebration organized by the DG for granted; rather, they should embrace positivity and continue to support the Commission’s Management in its effort to reposition the Commission for the better.
