DG NLRC Affirms Regulatory Standards as Imperial Betting Company Enters Nigerian Gaming Market

In its steadfast commitment to regulatory adherence, the Director General of the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC), Mr. Lanre Gbajabiamila OON has emphasised the Commission’s zero-tolerance stance on non-compliance with regulations as the Commission grants Sports Betting Permit to Imperial Betting Company, the newest entrant to the Nigerian Gaming industry.

In his welcome remarks, Mr. Gbajabiamila highlighted the importance of collaborating with both existing operators and the Commission to understand the prevalent gaming industry in Nigeria. He stressed the need to communicate any encountered challenges to the Commission for possible solution.

Recognising the company’s focus on online retail operations, Gbajabiamila advised the team to be mindful of both Federal and State jurisdictional regulations as they expand their operations in the gaming industry. The DG NLRC further reiterated the importance of timely submission of monthly and audit reports to the Commission as stipulated in the terms and conditions of the Permit.

In his remarks, the co-founder of Imperial Bet, Mr. Louis Mecklembourg outlined the company’s strategic focus on online operations and its subsequent physical presence in the nation for effective user engagement and company’s growth. He expressed confidence in the Commission’s regulatory framework and pledged the company’s compliance with NLRC guidelines.
